Ocean Of Mercy Book Launch In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The Ocean of Mercy, a literary treasure on the spiritual journey of His Holiness Bhakti Charu Swami was launched on 7th March 2017 at Sri Jaganath Mandir  (ISKCON) Kuala Lumpur . The congregants of  Malaysia were elated and felt most fortunate to have Maharaj present to personally launch his book and have his divine presence after a long time, since his last visit.

His Holiness needed no introduction being renowned as an exalted preacher  in ISKCON – a spiritual master whose  adoration and  glorification of  our  founder-acarya, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada is evidenced by  the magnanimous  preaching projects personally undertaken by His Holiness including  the translation of Srila Prabhupad’s Srimad Bhagvatam and other vedic literary gems into the Bengali language,  production of the video Abhay Charan and  the building of ISKCON Ujjain, a feat accomplished in just 10 months.

The programme commenced at approximately 7.30 with Maharaja garlanding Srila Prabhupada on his arrival at the Temple and then proceeding to take darshan of the presiding deities, Sri Sri Jaganath, Baladev and Subhadra Mayee, Sri Sri Nitai Sundar Gaura Hari and Sri Sri Radha Syama Sundar.

His Grace Simheswara Das, the Regional Secretary for ISKCON Malaysia, began by glorifying Maharaja and reflected on the many poignant scenes narrated which was almost a brief synopsis of the book. The programme then proceeded in a dialogue session between Her Grace Shantirupa devi dasi and Maharaja on the content of the book and her realizations as a young devotee under Maharaja’s guidance.

A memorable moment was when Shantirupa Mataji recollected the early years when the movement was experiencing great challenges, and at this time, she felt Maharaj had held on to the hands of her and her family and led them to spiritual light, just like the illustration on the cover of the Ocean of Mercy.  The questions and answers session from the floor evinced wonderful insight into Maharaj’s thoughts and feelings on the contents of the book.

After the dialogue session, the book was launched by Maharaja officially by presenting the book to Srila Prabhupada at his vyasasan. This was followed by inviting the devotees to seize the opportunity to buy the book personally autographed by Maharaja. The response was indeed very encouraging. The programme ended around 10.15pm with Maharaja cutting a beautifully decorated cake.

The devotees on that night were indeed most blessed and fortunate to have the opportunity of having Maharaja’s darshan as he had to depart for South Africa the very next day. The launch was indeed a successful one. We hope more devotees will come forward to buy the Ocean of Mercy to experience the fragrance of Srila Prabhupada’s pastimes and traverse through the many scenes of the book feeling extreme gratitude that we have in this life time been drenched in the Ocean of Mercy – Srila Prabhupada.
