02 Feb Bhakti Charu Swami’s Visit To Singapore And Malaysia
HH Bhakti Charu Swami Maharaja left India on 7th January 2016 and landed at Changi Airport, Singaporeon the next day. Local devotees had enthusiastically received Maharaja on his arrival to their country. Maharaja’s arrival brought inspiration to the entire community.
The next morning, 9th January 2016, Maharaja gave a special class to the devotees at the temple. HG Devakinandana Prabhu gave a wonderful introduction to Maharaja.
On the 10th January 2016, Maharaja gave Harinama Diksha (first initiation) to twenty seven devotees, helping them surrender to the shelter of the lotus feet of Srila Prabhupada. The program started at 10am, beginning with the initiation lecture and concluded with the fire sacrifice.
After that Maharaja left for Johor Bahru, Malaysia where another group of enthusiastic devotees were waiting for His Holiness. Maharaja spent time with all the devotees and gave them a very personal and warm reception, answering their questions and inspiring them in their spiritual lives. Even the smallest interaction with Maharaja left a profound and positive impression in the hearts of devotees.
On the 14th January 2016, at one of the devotee’s home, a Chinese lady came to see Maharaja. She had asked many questions and Maharaja very mercifully answered all her questions. Finally, Maharaja asked her to read Bhagavad Gita. The detailes from this conversation are as follows:
HHBCS: There are innumerable universes and in each universe there are many planets and in each planet there are living entities. There is no reason for God to create some planets for nothing. For example, someone may say there is nothing in the sea based on looking at it externally, however, that doesn’t mean inside the sea there is nothing. If you go deeper into the sea you will be able to see there are many living entities there like plants, fish and so on. There is nothing which the Lord created without any reason. Similarly, in every universe there are living entities.
Q: What’s wrong in this world, there are so many cruelties even within human beings?
HHBCS: It’s just because they are not accepting the authority of the God. Even if you have the right book but there is no right teacher therefore there will be no right knowledge gained.
After preaching in Malaysia for approximately five days, Maharaja returned to Singapore on the 15th January 2016, where he had a special gathering in the evening with some of the corporate leaders and professionals at one devotee’s house. Some details of this gathering is as follows:
HHBCS: Puranam mean activities of the Lord and the devotees.
When there is 100 dollars in your pocket then your 5 dollar problem is solved. You do not have to give up materialistic activities like business, work, etc., but just include Krishna into it. Vaisyas’ duties is to supply the need of the public. Vaisyas’ are in mixed mode of passion and ignorance. By nature they want to enjoy therefore they should provide and fulfil the need of the public and from that profit they can enjoy. The Sudhras’ are the lower class of people who are generally labourers’. In that case Vaisyas’ are the better class. Wealth arises from achievers.
Then on 16th January 2016 Maharaja gave an evening class in the temple and Maharaja emphasised unity among the devotees and no groupism should be present among the devotees. One of the highlights of Maharaja’s class was: Most of the time when the spiritual master leaves the planet, there is no unity among the god brothers and they fail to work together and follow the Guru’s instruction. But Srila Prabhupada taught us “Your love for me will be displayed by how you cooperate with each other.”
On 17th January 2016, Maharaja was invited as a key note speaker for “Artha” Forum. Program started at 10am at the famous Tanglin Club. The topic for this session was “Conscious Leadership”, which was attended by more than a 100 participants, mainly corporate leaders and professionals. After 4 hours of this professional preaching program at Tanglin Club, Maharaja joined a very intimate lunch program with around 100 Bengali devotees and spent time with them. These Bengali devotees amazingly prepared 50 preparations for the lunch. After that Maharaja left in the evening from Singapore to Melbourne for his next preaching tour to Australia.
