Written by Ramananda Raya Dasa  (Rudy Snoeck)

It must have been about one hour before I woke up that early winter morning.  Very vividly His Holiness Sacinandana Swami and  His Holiness Bhakti Charu Swami appear to me in dreams.  They look very young and radiant, a real experience, as if announcing something very wonderful to me.

At around noontime that day the Radhadesh restaurant devotee calls me: “Two people from your village are visiting and they want to meet with you?”  “Oh, let me first finish here, I will come after ten minutes…  Or let me say a few words to them, can you please pass them the phone?” …

“Hello, I am Rudy Snoeck from Zulte, the son of Frans, nice to meet you” “You come from Zulte ? I am sorry but I do not recognize you…”  “Raoul Dereu, do you remember him, he was working with your father Frans ?” the lady replies, “I am his sister.”  “Raoul, of course I remember him, I see him when he joint the army, he was very thin then…!”  “Okay, now I understand and you live in Zulte?” “Yes, we run café “The Whip” in the centre of Zulte.  The hairdresser Yves Lefever who lives across the street told us to visit here and we wanted so much to meet with you….”

The talk continues for a while and all of a sudden I notice it is 12h55  noontime.  “Oh, you did not enter the castle yet?  We must go now; otherwise you will miss the heart of all life here! Let’s go and see the  temple, it closes at 13h10!”

When we open the temple door, a ceremony for Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Maharaja, the spiritual teacher of Srila Prabhupada who is the Founder-Acharya of the Hare Krishna movement,  just ends.  Immediately I make the connection with those very special dreams I had in the morning.  This is not an ordinary day.  My guests are really blessed in very unique ways!

Because of that temple celebration the Murti Form of Srila Prabhupada has been put next to his shringhasana and the painting of Srila Bhaktisidhhanta Maharaja is standing on the vyasasana.

The devotees allow us to take a seat in the temple room.  While Mr. & Mrs.  Vanneste-Dereu gaze at the Deities to their full amazement and satisfaction, I play the harmonium while singing the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra.  The proof of the pudding comes when Mrs. Dereu stands up and makes a donation in the Radhadesh box.   Naturally I hear Lord Krishna’s words from the Bhagavad-Gita : “Nehabhikrama naso sti pratyavaya na vidyate svalapam apy’ asya dharmasya trayate mahato bhayat” On this path there is no loss nor diminution and a little advancement can help one from the greatest type of fear.  I specially remembered these words when a few days later a criminal person wildly shot around in Liège centre, about 40 km from Radhadesh, 6 people were killed and many were dangerously wounded…

After the temple visit we walk into the Radhadesh boutique where Mrs. Dereu selects an Indian lamp to be posted in her café in Zulte.  They look visibly happy and we still walk back to the restaurant to finish up our talks.

“Do you know Yves ?  Do you remember Luc & Hans ?”  “Of course, I remember them ! We were together at primary school and in the youth movement!”  So long ago, but the memories seem so close still…  We talk on for some time and we still have an elaborate talk on reincarnation, while Mrs. Dereu asks for the prices of the Radhadesh guesthouse.

Now they look fully satisfied and make signs that they want to leave.  It was indeed great to meet with you, Mr. & Mrs Vanneste-Dereu.  Many greetings to all the known faces in Zulte !
