Subject: Bhagavad-gita court case
To:
15-Dec-11

Dear Maharajas and Prabhus,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
On Dec. 19th and 20th the court case trying to declare “Bhagavad-gita as it
is” as an extremist literature will resume.
A lot is at stake. If we lose the case, the consequences will be very
dramatic, long-lasting and very gloomy. It may put under question the very
existence of our movement in Russia.
The fact that two days are alotted for the hearing from the beginning makes
us suspicious that they plan to finish the whole process within these two
days. It is a bad sign.
Also they practically did not give us time to prepare, just today we got the
news, and it is already practically weekend, and the court will start on
Monday. We still do not have the copy of the so-called expert opinion
submitted to the court.
We humbly ask all of you to offer your prayers, to hold special kirtans and
yajnas. Please ask your congregation to pray.
We are also formulating our petition following Sivarama Maharaja’s example.
As soon as we are ready, I will ask you to mobilize your congregation to
sign the petition on line.
Your servant Bhakti Vijnana Goswami

Dear Maharajas and Prabhus,
please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
I want to add something to Maharaja’s letter.
If BG would be decleared an extremist literature, that practically mean that
basically ALL of Srila Prabhupada’s books forbidden in Russia, because all
of them have quotes from BG. It would be forbidden to distribute, read, and
even keep at home these books! It would be strictly forbidden to discuss and
give lectures on BG or other books of SP.
It could practically finish up or set back for decades our movement in
Russia.
Now, Russia is a very important country in Eastern World. This will affect
heavily all countries there and their religious policy. Belorussia, Ukraine,
Moldova, Kazakhstan etc. will be affected first of all. Considering number
of devotees in these countries, it is at least 1/4 of our KC world (not
counting India of course).
We have practical experience and feeling of how it looks like. This Eastern
World has changed for the last 20 years, but not so dramatically, it is
still not the West, and we can expect any turn back to totalitarian type of
society, especially in terms if religion.
From what I remember about history of persecution of KC in USSR, the only
possible tool is the pressure from abroad, from the countries who are
partners of Russia, who giving money and making business with Russia.
So, seems to be that it is a time for massive international campaign.
Situation is too seriouse. Please.

Attempt to ban Bhagavad-gita
by Bhakti Vigiana Goswami Maharaj on Friday, December 16, 2011 at 8:08am
Bhagavad-gita As It Is, one of the most respected holy scriptures of the world
today, is under the threat of being banned in Russia.
The court proceedings will resume in Siberian city Tomsk, Russia, on Monday
19th. The persecutors in Tomsk suggest that the widely distributed book
translated and commented upon by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada should be
included in the Justice Ministry’s list of banned extremist literature.
Bhagavad-gita As It Is is translated in more than 80 languages. Over 100
million copies of this book was distributed to date all over the world!
Millions of people in the world today consider it as the main book in their
life.
The persecutors with great determination and vigor are pushing through this
absurd case. During the first three court hearings, the testimony of the Tomsk
experts upon which the persecutors built their case for the court was
recognized as «inadequate». However, the Persecutor’s office ordered the new
testimony. Noteworthy, that the testimony was requested not from the well-known
experts of Hinduism from Moscow, but from some unknown experts from Kemerovo
State University. This move clearly suggests that the court decision is already
predestined. This practice brings to memory the Middle Age Inquisition, Witch
hunting, burning of books and the persecution of the dissidents during Soviet
period of Russian history.
Tomsk Ombudsperson, eminent scholars of Hinduism, the members of the Public
Chamber of Russian Federation, representatives of Indian community in Russia,
and people belonging to different religious denominations in Russia have
already expressed their perplexity and outrage caused by the activities of
Tomsk persecutors.
We demand to stop the court over the Holy Scripture! These initiatives of the
Tomsk Persecutor’s Office offend the religious sentiments of all the followers
of Hinduism and bring disgrace to the country of Russia.

Hungarian Petition: Urgent from HH Sivarama SwamiMonday, December 12, 2011 4:23
PMFrom: roy” <saciranidd@yahoo.com>View To: “projectharmony@yahoo.com”
<projectharmony@yahoo.com>Dearest Saranagati dd,
Please accept my most humble obeisances. All glories to HDG Srila Prabhupada
and our respective Guru Maharajas!
I hope you are well. I am not very active on FB, because I don’thave email at
home. At work we are not supposed to use the computer. I try to limit my access
but just had to send this. The devotees in Hungary need help. The government is
changing ISKCON’s religious status, disallowing them to now own farmland,
property, etc. We need some assistance. I thought with your kindness and
connections at the UN you would know who to send this to. We can’t stop them
from having farmland, this is so unfair. Now HH Sivarama Swami is asking for
help. I just had to pass this on Prabhu!
On the personal level, I miss you so much. I think of the times I went to your
apartment and we had such wonderful times. Do you live in upstate now? I truly
wish I could come to NYC this coming year. I have promised Siromani (Sharbani
Roy) I would.

Let me know about your husband and daughter and all that you are doing.
With love and appreciation,

Dear Basu
Please accept my humble obeisances, all glories to Srila Prabhupada.
On Tuesday ISKCON Hungary, its supporters and cows will hold a protest
outside the parliament in Budapest and also present our petition to the
speaker of the house. Cab you forward this TPs, preaching centers and,
nama-hattas in India to themselves encourage devotees, congregation and
supporters to sign the petition at the link below. Obviously that is easiest
done by sending the explanation below out to their mailing lists with a
short note of support. We have passed the 20,000 mark, however 50,000
signatures are required for a petition to be addressed as discussion topic
in parliament.
My request is that if there is a computer at saturday and sunday programs
where guests can just sign in could generate many names. Thank you and
please give devotees here your blessings, prayers and kind thoughts.
Again I provide a brief explanation for signatories below.

Our Petition!
http://www.petitions24.com/krisna
Dear Devotees. The new “Church Law” in Hungary will take away ISKCON
Hungary’s church status as of January 1st requiring us to reapply for the
same the next year. However the government has not provided any legal
stipulation for the society’s continued ownership of K???a Valley’s lands in
the interim period until we are again reregistered. In short we risk losing
K???a Valley with no pasture for our cows or land to grow our food. I
therefore request that you sign the online petition—link below—and forward
this message to as many people as possible, who would also petition against
this injustice. Thank you. Sivarama Swami.
