Last Friday Bhakti Charu Maharaja had arrived in London. Festivities were going on to celebrate the wedding of Their Graces Sandipana Krishna and Anuraddha Sakhi Prabhus. In the past Sandipana Krishna Prabhu has been leading up the Pandava Sena group of Hare Krishna devotee-students in London. Despite his always very busy preaching schedules Bhakti Charu Maharaja made it a point to be present at the celebrations and fully bless those wonderful devotees.

The devotees are most expert to turn any such occasion into a tremendously powerful preaching opportunity. Bhakti Charu Maharaja gave amazing lectures. Rupeshvara Gauranga prabhu is about to post the audio recordings on the websites. It feels like a life experience to attend such a perfectly organized Indian wedding with exquisite beauty and pomp and to witness it as a most powerful Krishna Conscious happening.

Bhakti Charu Maharaja was very pleased with all the arrangements. Saturday evening he lectured in Leicester and on Sunday he gave the Srimad Bhagavatam class in the temple hall of the Bhaktivedanta Manor with its very beautiful altar of Sri Sri Radha-Gokulananda, Sri Sri Sita Rama Laxman Hanuman and Sri Sri Gaura Nitai Deities. Tens of thousands of people come and visit the temple every year. They are very touched by the exclusive ISKCON Deity worship as it is magnificently performed according to the directions of His Divine Grace Abhay Caranaravinda Srila Prabhupada. Radha Vinode Prabhu and a team of devotees are weekly organizing weddings in the Bhaktivedanta Manor. People love to celebrate their wedding in the most attractive transcendental atmosphere of the Bhaktivedanta Manor. The new goshala in the Manor with its forty cows now and the many preaching arrangements by the hard working devotees there are more and more increasing the beauty and auspiciousness of that historical Bhaktivedanta Manor, the matchless gift of Sriman George Harisson to Srila Prabhupada.

In the afternoon Bhakti Charu Maharaja first went to visit and encourage a young devotee in the hospital. The boy had suddenly found himself attacked with leukemia. Later in the afternoon Bhakti Charu Maharaja lectured in a beautiful marquis which was set up behind the home of Sandipana Krishna. About two hundred guests attended. Again it was fascinating to hear Bhakti Charu Maharaja lecturing very powerfully on the topic of Varnashrama. The guests must have been most impressed to hear so much substance on the occasion of a marriage celebration. Bhakti Charu Maharaja gave a very scientific explanation of the Vedic views on the social organization of society. He pointed out the difficulty of installing the ksatriya class in a democratic society. After Bhakti Charu Maharaja spoke strong words on the current leadership with its bluffing politicians one young man put forward his doubts related to installing a non-democratic varnashrama society. “Imagine that from tomorrow the airplane pilots will be choosen by popular vote”, Bhakti Charu Maharaja riposted, “Who will choose to fly on such airplanes ?” “What to speak of leaders who have to pilot a whole society !” The point was driven home and all present started to chant and dance in ecstatic kirtanas! At each occasion delicious prasadam was served, one could experience the personal and most intelligent guidance of Bhakti Charu Maharaja at every bite of the nectar! Sandipana Krishna Prabhus mother, Shashikala Mataji, tirelessly cooked herself during the several celebration days for all their guests. One wonders where such a lady finds the energy to work continuously with such intensity at her age.

On Monday morning the actual wedding ceremony was held in the templeroom of the Bhaktivedanta Manor. Last week I spoke to a historicist in Holland. He knew a lot about history but he told me that he loved India the most. When I asked him why, he answered, “Because of the colors”. The wedding party was so much colorful and people were brought to tears on several occasions during the celebration. So expertly things were organized, nobody can match with devotees in that respect, it is awesome to marry in the transcendental presence of the wonderful Vaishnavas, Srila Prabhupada and Their Lordships on an altar bedecked with a fully lightened golden Simhasana. At the end of the celebration a respected elderly guest expressed to everyone how he had never attended such an amazing wedding celebration. He felt deeply touched by Kripamoya prabhu, the president of the Bhaktivedanta Manor, who was the wedding priest for the occasion. “I have never attended a wedding ceremony like this and I have never seen such a learned wedding priest,” the grandfather said, “my advice for you as a young married couple is that you should take guidance from this priest to support you in your marriage life”.

Again Bhakti Charu Maharaja gave a short lecture at the beginning of the wedding celebration and at the end he again came to confirm his heartfelt blessings to the newly married couple. He encouraged them to remain actively involved in Iskcon and by their example support the preaching efforts. Bhakti Charu Maharaja had spoken in most humble ways. When he first entered the packed temple room, Kripamoya prabhu wanted Bhakti Charu Maharaja to touch a garland which would then be brought to garland Srila Prabhupada. Bhakti Charu Maharaja immediately took up the garland and went to garland Srila Prabhupada himself while offering sincere prayers and obeisances to Srila Prabhupada.

The experience was so deeply heart touching that one can only dream that by the transcendental mercy of Their Lordships and Their sincere servants one day the whole world will be able to relish such nectar which is now kept away from them, simply because of ignorance.

All glories to Sri Guru and Sri Gauranga!
All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
